I'm inspired by ancient buildings and cultures. I'm working on a series of 10 paintings about structures that are on the Unesco World Heritage Site list. I'm hoping to visit everyone of them! #AbundantArtShow #worldheritagesite #worldheritage #elisabethwinnenartist #pueblobonito #chacocanyon
I’m participating in the #AbundantArtShow! Its an 8 day mini-show of artists’ work from all over the world. Over the next 8 days I’ll be showing some of my work as well as sharing my favorites from other artists. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram!
The inking has started for my next World Heritage site, Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Canyon, NM. Several years ago I stayed 2 nights, the maximum allowed, at the Chaco Canyon campground. The canyon is remote and houses a series of Anasazi pueblo ruins. Pueblo Bonito, ''beautiful village", is one of the largest with over 650 rooms and 35 circular kivas.
There are many mysteries surrounding the purpose of the buildings and it's inhabitants.
It's also one of the most fascinating archeoastronomy structures I have encountered so far. I will be sharing more about that as the painting progresses.
A selection of architectural themed paintings and a new series of paintings inspired by Light are on exhibit in the lobby at Mosaic Portland, NE and N locations. The paintings can be viewed before and after the Sunday gatherings during the month of May. Times are 9 am, 11 am and 5:30pm. Please let me know if you plan on going and I will make myself available as much as possible :-)
These past 2 months I have been working on a new series of paintings and digital art. They are inspired by one of my favorite Dutch painters and a Greek muse. Here is a preview of one of them titled 'Rise with Love', hot off the press for the WorldMuse exhibition in Bend!
The new series will be launched online first and then travel to different locations.
In conjunction with this launch I am offering a BRAND NEW workshop for adults I have been masterminding for a while and I am so psyched about! Stay tuned for updates.

The painting also works horizontally. This is is how I first started it. What do you think looks best?
Last summer I was so fortunate to travel to Mexico. Right after we landed in Mexico City we took a bus heading to Las Piramides; Teotihuacan, or City of the Gods as it is also known.
This legendary city is located 30 miles North of Mexico City and believed to be the birth place of the gods.
Before I actually saw the city of Teotihuacan I had researched it quite a bit and had started a painting about this city. You can see the finished piece here: http://www.elisabethsarthouse.com/teotihuacan.html
World Heritage Sites: A series of 10 paintings
A few years ago I had the vision of creating a series of 10 large scale architectural drawings about ancient buildings and structures. This grew out of my love for architecture, art and ancient cultures. I discovered that the buildings I was so interested in belong to a category of building called archeoastronomy. These are buildings that are designed to reflect the night sky and are aligned with the heavens, the rising and setting of planets and stars. I have worked steadily on making this vision come to life. And this last summer I was so lucky to visit the ancient city of Teotihuacan which was the topic of my latest painting.
